In this part we want to tell you about stage costumes of “Romathan” theatre which was founded in Slovakian city of Koshitsa in 1991. The name “Romathan” means “Gypsies’ place” or “Gypsies’ country”, but the most poetical translation would probably be “Gypsiania”. The founder of the theatre, its stage manager (and also a bandmaster and a brilliant violinist) — Karol Adam has got musical conservatory education. The theatre have been to England, Czech Republic, Hungary, Germany, Poland and France, took a lot of prizes — for example, at festivals in Prague, Budapest, Graz and Vienna. In the period from 1992 to 2007 “Romathan” put up 44 plays. They give concerts mostly in Slovakian language with rather long insertions of Gypsy texts. They use folk Gypsy songs and dances. By the way we recommend you their site.
